Useful information for your visit to the Archaeopark

Opening times:

April 1st – November 7th

  • Daily 10 am – 6 pm, closed on Mondays
  • Public tours on Sundays & public holidays at 1 pm and 3.30 pm
  • Group tours by appointment

Corona info: At the moment, a maximum of 10 visitors can take part in a public tour with advance notice. Due to the admission restriction, there may be waiting times at the entrance.

November 9th – March 31st

  • From November 2nd, 2020 to probably May 17th, 2021 Archaeopark Vogelherd will be closed due to Corona.
  • Groups by appointment only: Daily 10 am to 4 pm, closed on Mondays. Currently not possible!
  • For individual visitors: Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. Currently not possible!
  • Public tour on the last Sunday of the month (1 pm). Tours are currently not possible!

The Vogelherd cave is closed from November 1st, 2020 to March 31st, 2021 for species and nature conservation reasons. The outdoor area can be used to a limited extent due to the weather.

Also open on public holidays. All exceptions are listed.

Corona info:
A visit to the Archaeopark does not have to be registered in advance, except when participating in a public or booked tour.
Online tickets cannot be purchased. When entering the park, the visitor registration must be completed. The known corona-related measures (mouth and nose protection, minimum distance, hygiene) must be observed. Hand disinfection is mandatory when using the offer at the themed places. At the moment there may be waiting times due to the admission restriction.

Public tour:
In compliance with the known corona-related measures (mouth and nose protection, minimum distance, hygiene), public tours with a maximum of 10 participants and prior registration take place on Sundays and public holidays at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm

Hand disinfection is mandatory when using the offer at the themed places. The cost of the public tour is € 3.50 plus admission per person.

To register for each visitor, please use the guest registration form – group participants, which you either bring with you during your visit or send it to us by e-mail.

Dogs are welcome guests in the Archaeopark! However, dogs have no access to the exhibition area with the treasury, the cave and the ‘place of fire’ due to security and monument protection reasons.

The Archaeopark is only partially barrier-free. The access to the cave and the upper part of the circular route is on a hill and are therefore not barrier-free. There is an accessible toilet. A designated disabled parking space is approx. 500 m from the entrance to the park. Access to the entrance area for getting in and out of the car is permitted.

The cave is the central attraction of the Archaeopark. This place is one of the most important sites of the Stone Age culture worldwide and gives an in-depth look into our prehistory. Here the visitor actively immerses himself in the Stone Age and gets a captivating impression of the era of our ancestors in a fascinating way.

Corona info: Due to the corona system, a maximum of 10 people are currently allowed to take part in a guided tour. Booked and public tours must be registered in advance. The hygiene measures and the minimum distance must be observed when visiting Archaeopark Vogelherd, and mouth and nose protection must be worn. The hands must be disinfected at the themed places before using the offer. Due to the admission restriction, there may be waiting times.

Important information:

In groups, an accompanying person + bus driver are free. The group size for guided tours / birthday parties is a maximum of 25 people. A binding pre-registration is necessary 21 days before the event. In the event of cancellation or absence, a lump sum will be charged. We offer tours in English and French for a surcharge of €10.

Residents of the city of Niederstotzingen can get a citizen card for the Archaeopark Vogelherd in the municipal administration office of Niederstotzingen. The Citizen Card is not available in the Archaeopark Vogelherd.

2 Guided tours in foreign languages and team buildings are possible at an additional cost of € 10.

3 As an additional program for the Archaeopark Vogelherd, we offer an audio guide to guide you through the park. This iPod gives you the opportunity to explore the park yourself. The animals, plants and themed places are described by this audio guide. It can also be used to read QR codes that are set up in the Archaeopark Vogelherd.

A7 Würzburg-Ulm » Exit: 118 Niederstotzingen » Follow road L1168 towards Niederstotzingen » You’ll find the Archaeopark parking lot in Niederstotzingen-Stetten on the left-hand side of the road. » Please note: The exit “118 Niederstotzingen” is blocked in both directions until May 2020. Detour via Langenau – Albeck – Nerenstetten. The passage through Asselfingen is currently also blocked.

With local public transport

You can travel by train and/or bus. In the Niederstotzingen district you will find the train station on the ‘Aalen-Ulm’ route.
